Interesting Times

I have been very busy over the last couple of days. I was even spat on by an alpaca! One of the most glorious moments of my life. Anyways!!?!

I have been doing NAAAAATING. This means nothing. Or hardly anything. Here are some more semi completed converted Orcs which are just awaiting their shields and bases to be done.

This fine lad is an WIP archer.

And lastly my pride and joy. A hunter Orc!

He looks like a hunter Orc to me, buuuut, he is actually a common or garden orc from somewhere or other. Still, I am happy with him. He is made with zero (0) GS and bits from five different sets and from four different manufacturers! wow! hmmm.

Anywho/when/while/maybe?!*

HAPPY HALOWEEEEEEEN everybody.

I am not doing anything this time because I am too tired. :(
Also happy Samhain for anyone who is celebrating it. Celtic people. Anyone?

Goodbye. <END>

*If anyone** is wandering at my weird lingual acrobatics (anywho|anywhile|anywhen|anyway) it is because I say "anyway" WAY too often for my own liking. Therefore I attempt to change it to anywho|anywhile|anywhen whenever I can. This is purely for my own happiness. Consider it an "alternate anyway". :D

*There I go again.

Goblin Town: The Beginning

Well, it's more like Snaga town. Much more like Snaga town. So first up comes my preamble. Has anyone out there who is mildly interested in Tolkien got this book? If not, I must recommend it to you. One can just flip to a random page and find something interesting. It covers a lot but doesn't have everything which is why I have decided to expand it a little. ( For instance, I don't think it mentions Gundabad at all :c).

And the runner up, a trophy rack for my upcoming  snaga town! Now, being an ex-WHFB player, I have my own private little mountain of skulls and heads and such. However skulls or rather "SKulL5" are not really my thing. They can be too easily overdone. This is why I am going to be very careful when hanging skulls on my trophy rack. Very careful. Hmmm, come to think of it goblins are rather crude and therefore I believe they may have one or two fallen enemy skulls lying around the place so I am going to do it. I have written too much on a simple subject. :D

Next up comes the 'kitchen' as I like to call it. Even goblins have to eat. And these goblins eat steak and onions with a bit of pigeon to fill up the corners. The 'steaks' are from a 40k kroot set and there is a wee birdy with some onions from a Bretonnian peasant set.

The below are some more WIP orcs coming on.

And here is a finished one.

Methinks I shall use this somehow in my Dol-Guldur army or snaga army if I play a siege. Maybe its a mining implement? Who knows.

All for now. Goodbye!

Orcs, Fencing and a Birthday

'Allo fellow blogosphere dwellers. I hope to cover many things of lesser and greater import in this post, so here goes.

1. I have decided to get my act together and force myself back into 'the hobby' by painting more converted orcs for my Dol Guldur force. Can't let the Llama Lord have all the fun. Hopefully sometime in the forthcoming weeks I shall  manage to do some more converting. I hope to have around 30 close combat orcs and maybe 10 archers (hopefully). I am also considering buying a few geebobby orcs (Games-Workshop--Anything that I write that sounds anything like that is most likely referring to said old and esteemed company). This would only be to add a bit of exciting flavor to the horde. Well, not much of a horde. Rather a gaggle really. Anywhile? I hope to get this done and posted before halfway through next month. Maybe, if I stick with it.

Please note these orcs are WIP.

2. I have finally got myself back into fencing which is a shlep? don't think this is a word. Hmm. Its my word for hassle. Well, it hasn't been that bad. I've been off for around two (2) months so I was expecting a thrashing by everyone. It turned out pretty well. Looking forward to getting back into the competitions just for fun. This has nothing to do with the hobby, this blog, or much else in fact. People I know say I am a tad egotistical. Maybe be. Maybe not. I for one do not imply anything, ever. Anywho? This is why I have written this. For those who felt the need for an explanation (myself as one of said people)*.

3. It is my sister's birthday today! Yay! This is probably my third or fourth favorite event of the year (apart from my own birthday, Christmas, and all the other times people give me unexpected gifts). Why is this? Well it is because being who I am, when my sister gets given a nice camera for her b-day, I of course think, Hey, I could use this here camera?! And when she gets given sweets/candy? not sure which one to use so I will settle on the Afrikaans word lekkers (meaning nice stuff I think meaning candy/sweets)......wow I deviate....anyway to cut a long boring story short I eat her lekkers. :D 'Cos I can. Despicable, yet like a cool cat at the same time.
I also bought her a book that I want to read, so....  despicable. Truly. I am ashamed of myself and yet impressed with my own deviousness?

Now, back to interesting stuff that has stuff to do with the hobby stuff.

I am thinking about what I want for Christmas. This is important, no matter what anyone may think. This Christmas(note that I generally don't spell Christmas with a capitol letter but the spell check now days...) I would like to get a whole feces load(I have resolved not to swear on this blog) of miniatures so that I  can stock pile them and slowly convert them into whatever I want during the year. I am thinking of doing something different next year with my hobby cash/dollar/dough/whatever. This involves something I like to call PROJECT SUPER SECRET and will not be openly discussed here on this public sight. If it works I will share it with you later and if not I will spend all said cash dollar on miniatures so it is a win-win situation. Isn't it luverly**.

Anywhen? On to what I am thinking of getting. Hundreds of WF(wargames factory) Persians and a few of their orcs.

* When I state this I am not implying that anyone felt the need for an explanation. As always I never imply anything.

** Lovely. I know this is the proper spelling. But it sounds better as luverly.

Ps. I have also came across some D&D miniatures that I got awhile ago so now I can press gang a few spiders into my Dol Guldur army. My only problem is how to base them? Do I use cavalry bases or large monster bases? I don't know. Maybe I will do a unit base. Hmm, decisions, decisions.

Apologies for the low quality pics, I haven't got my hands on my sister's camera yet!

Goodbye, fair well,

The END.

Not an Update

Hello everypeople... the title says it all. This post was created because I was bored. And I had nothing better to do. Hmm. Well, I shall present everyone with a whole load of random rubbish. I didn't want for it to get to this but it happened. There we have it. Very dramatic.

Aaaaand the first picture is the view from my window of my cabin where I live. I am a moose hunter by profession and so I live in a moose hunter's cabin. Despite what everyone believes there are plenty of mooses? or should that be meese? in South Africa so I have a busy life with lots of healthy competition in the form of lions and leopards and tigers and grizzly bears and wolves? Its a tough life, I know, but somehow I manage*. Still, for some strange reason the meese in my area are getting a bit scarce so I have to entertain myself with 28mm miniatures, thinking about entertaining myself with 28mm miniatures and rereading snatches of the LoTR.

Here is a picture of my moose hunting territory. I also hunt snails and stick insects in this area when I run out of meese. Mwahahahaha!!**

And here is my loyal companion. A mighty moose-hunting war dog. Don't be fooled by her seemingly vacant and unintelligent expression. She is a beast both wise and cunning with many fell trick up her sleeve...um, collar.

And my second moose hunter. Although she hunts Bella, the first fearsome hound more than she does anything else. And the cat I suppose. And anything else. I think she has some sort of issue. She imagines things sometimes. Hmm. HMMM.

Anywho??

And finally more vacant unintelligent looks from Bella the Moose Hunter, Terror of Arnor, Isildur's Second Bane and so on..

She is coming for you... :)

Now that I have blurted all this out I feel much better. I admit my hounds are not the brightest and are emotionally unstable but, you know, they keep the burglars away. Well probably not but I need an excuse so that will do. They hunt meese*** and keep me safe... Hur hur hur.

Anyways. I hereby apologize deeply and humbly for this bout of randomness. It shall not happen again any time soon. With deepest regrets,
Goodbye.

P.s NO MOOSES WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS POST.

* You may decide whether I am telling the truth. While deciding please bare in mind that I live in South Africa which may or may not imply that I have ever even seen a live moose. Anywho? Freedom of speech and opinions and such.

** I do not hunt snails, nor stick insects. I was lying. I feel bad if I squash an ant. Also, this is not the view from my window or any other window. It is a photo of either Emyn Muil or the Misty Mountains.

*** I know the plural of moose is not meese. I really do. However it is my strong opinion that the plural should be changed to meese. One moose, many meese.

If anyone has read all the way to the end, I commend you for your diligence and loyalty and I feel happy in my knowledge that their might be other bored people out there? I am not implying that anyone is bored. I never imply anything.

More Orcs

Here are the next orcs newly spawned from my paintbrush. Three swordsmen and two archers. They turned out ok considering everything. However I don't like the one on the left hand side.

Hmm, also want 80 pounds. So that I can make a nice large army of Arnor using Perry Miniatures stuff. Well, we will have to see. Maybe I can scratch some stuff up and make it happen. Or not. Just some thoughts. Oh well. Goodbye. Nothing else to say.

ttfn : ta ta for now :")#tigger face#winniethepooreference.

Small Update.

Hmm, didn't get much hobby done today. Feel bad about it but what can one do? What I did do is paint the shields of the painted orcs  very badly and spend half the time redoing and now I am still not happy with them but they will have to do. Breath.

Then here is one of the howler monkey snaga chappies come warrior.

The shield has not been washed yet.

And here we have all my luverly orcs-in-progress. The one in the middle is new. Don't worry. I know he looks bad now but he'll look better painted. I hope. Trust me. hmm.

Aaaaand last of all to end of this episode of randomness I shall state a dear desire/hope. I really hope people bring out miniatures (in 28mm) for the Witcher game series. It is a brilliant game especially with the release of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Look it up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53MyR_Z3i1w. Anyways. That's all. Perhaps I will get something done this weekend, perhaps not. Only time will tell. I am feeling like doing a lot of reading. hmm.

Farewell everybody.

The End.

Update on all things orcish

Well here goes my second post of today. I have decided to make a converted orc army. With archers and close combat dudes and so on. I have been using GPB (Gripping Beast) dark ages warriors as the basis. I love this kit. I can use it in so many ways. If I had bought ten I would still be busy finding different conversions by the time I was finished. Very recommended. Anywho? I am also using bits and pieces from Mantics undead (namely zombie heads and swords) as well as some perry miniatures.

Here are some chaps which are getting shields.

My two archers ready for painting. The one on the left is a perry miniature with gs fur and the one on the right is a mix of things.

Next are four orcs. Two are snaga which have been promoted to warriors and the other two are conversions. The middle left has a breastplate and the one on the far right has a mantic skelly sword and some gs.

And may I present my impromptu sculpting tool. Facepalm. I seem to have lost my regular ones (my mothers old dissection kit :D) so here comes the improvising. Still there are worse things to sculpt with such as cotton wool, tongues and tonsils. So there is a lot to be grateful for.

And last of all my newest pride and joy with grass on it.

And with that, I take my leave. May you all fare well unto the morrow dawns...etc.

Snaga orcs continued

So this morning I have continued to work on the snaga orcs. Not much to say other than this being a very enjoyable project.
The below are just a few pics of the various stages of completion. And second please note that the base will have more work done to it aaaany day now...

All in all I really had fun with this and it turned out ok. Not brilliant but just fine. I am happy now because I can use these guys as a commander in my orc army until I find a better one.

Next up: Probably some more gs work on my Dol Guldur orcs and maybe some conversions on the remaining snaga orcs I have handy.

All for now. Cheers!

Snaga Goblins

I think this is how one spells it. Just came across the passage yestereve in the Tolkien dictionary. Anyway it was a good thing that I did because now I have finally found a use for my long unused remnants of my goblin town lads.
Snaga are orc slaves kind of things for those who don't know. Anywho, I have never been enamored by these miniature (finding them a tad too mutated-- the ones in the movie were ok but I feel geedubbs has gone a bietjie(Afrikaans word for little) over the top with the mutations. They like going over the top with everything which is not always a bad thing, but, you know...)

So, here is the beginning of a glorious snaga slave chain.

This will be carried into battle by a bunch of slaves. The goblin scribe is now an overseer.

And the chap who sees to it that the slaves slave away. He will also be riding on the platform.

And last for now a poor unarmed snaga who will be one of the chaps carrying the platform.
I chose the most deformed orcs to do the carrying so they would be out of sight. They are painted very simply because they will not be the focus of the miniature. Also they are snaga...

And just so that you can see that I haven't been totally sidetracked, here are a bunch of Lamedon  Noble Infantry (in capitols) who are actually normans but don't tell anyone... ;D

Hmm, nothing more to say. I shall post again tomorrow if there is anything more on the snaga done or generally anything else.

Also one uninteresting fact which I am most chuffed with myself about: ............ I am learning Irish (or Gailic-- not sure which one it is). For fun. It reminds me of elven so... WHY not. :0

Goodnight all dear readers, goodnight...

On Old Projects and More Orcs

Hello dear people who might or might not be reading this. I have done more of what this blog is all about which is changing plans and thoughts and being generally inconsistent and hobby.

So what has changed. There are not. Repeat. NOT half orcs any longer... they are common-or-garden-or-mordor orcs OR they are from Dol Guldur. I don't know. Anyway, the chappie on the right has had a face lift expansion thingy and the middle right one has got armour and the middle left one is not worked on at all in GS and the one on the left has got a face job. Whew!

And here is the dilemma. Should I give them shields? I have presticked? on this shield to see whether it fits nicely and I am not sure. I am calling on the judgment of anyone reading on this momentous... thing. Please help me with this decision. I am torn in two.

And last of all just to stick with the theme of inconsistency, here is an earth elemental for KoW that I made a while ago. For anyone who is interested. Very enjoyable project.

Sadly I didn't get very far.

Anywho? If anyone can help with the shield dilemma I would appreciate.

END.
