In summer time when the weather is fine...

Summer reigns supreme down here in good old SA and all is fine in the world of Joshua except for the weather which is hot. Oppressively so. Anyways, now on holiday, and I have found my camera!
So all is good and happy as it should be.

And here are some pics of what I have been doing (not much) while I was away.

Our first contender is the green n' gold springbok empire mercenary ogre. He was a real mess when I started and I spent more time on him than usual. Still, he turned out ok.

And a Slanneshi beastman. This was also a pain in the rear to paint. You are seeing the third repaint here. You are spared the horror. I was not.

The two warbands as they stand at the moment. I have had fun with them. The Warhammer world amuses me, so I retire there whenever I serious stuff (like lotr) gets me down.

Talking of serious stuff. I am tidying my dump. Or should that be table? I haven't seen it in a few months so I'm not sure it is still there. Only time will tell.

Also, I got my act together and painted four more shields to finish off my snaga project (for now ;D). I finally got round to it, as I have been avoiding it at all costs.

Now, my writing that I promised is being edited and shall arrive shortly. Promise. It will happen aaany day now. :)

And, I have been making lots of warhammer scenarios which I shall share as batreps soon. There will be lots of these to come.
One of these crossed my mind when I came across the "scary santas" at wargames foundry today http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/ . I was thinking of getting them and using them as the servants of one of the minor chaos gods, Santa Claws! They will lead warbands of orcs and/or scarecrows across the land on Christmas, terrorizing both good men of the empire and followers of chaos alike.

Should be fun.

Anywho? I am pathetically grateful that I found my camera, as I was feeling really bad.

Well, goodbye then,
Salutations?
Joshua

Ps) Please feel free to comment on anything, even the weather. It will be appreciated, nay, treasure. I am a desperate newbie blogger! ;D

PPs) Thankyou Llama for being a dedicated commenter, it is appreciated.

PPPs) I feel pathetic.

PPPPs) Goodbye.

Wot, Not Dead?

No, I am not dead. I say this because this is the longest length of time that I have not blogged. Ever.

This is the only reason why I am posting this. Because I feel bad. And embarrassed. Consider this the calm before the storm. Holidays are coming up and Christmas. And a wad of Foundry miniatures are on the way. Many games shall be played!

Aaaaand, I bid(ded?)-(bade?) on a warhammer 3rd edition going cheaply when what do you know, bobs your uncle, yours truly, love Joshua, the bast@rd cancelled in the last seven hours! how could he? I mean really!

Still, I digress... (yes Llama, I can also digress when I truly need to).

So, in this blogs heading, it says something about writing. So, I shall (soon) post some mantic games inspired writing that I did awhile ago.

Anyway, I have to go watch a Greek Tragedy.

Yay!
Goodbye,
See you soon
Love Joshua
Happy Easter.

Morehammer

Now lets get down to business.

I spent an hour or two speed painting up one of my chaos ogres for my slanneshi warband and he's ugly as fornication under consent of the king.
But hey, that's why I like him. All in all I really enjoyed painting up this one and he makes a nice centerpiece for my slowly growing warband.

Next up is my standard bearer. This one was a bit of an experiment. I base coated the whole model yellow and then splashed on some elf flesh skin colour thingy all over the body and the heads at the top. Then I just washed different parts of the model in different colours and inked the things I wanted darker (the standard and this chappies loin cloth) in some nice dark ink. Tadaa! He is magnificent! Well, not really but he is acceptable (tableworthy). He also adds some crazy colour to my warband. :)

And here are some brave vagabonds waiting to defend the world from the evil slanneshi monsters. Wish them all luck!
They need it.

And inspired by the crazy washing mania I have decided to try it out on two more bestigors. They shall be fantabulous. Although there are doubters out there, and haters, and bullies shattering any progress I make, I shall prevail! Perhaps.

And last of all, a group of road wardens. Very innocent. They are WIP and so will be completed any day now. Aaaany day now?!

I realize as I write this, that, looking back, I do not write very seriously. This is not good, nor bad. It just is. Hmm, the excuse is I get carried away and start blurting out nonsense. Oh, and did you know? I hate not being able to stick to one project! I hate it so much that I want to superglue orcs to my fingers and then gs them on more for extra stickiness! Whew.
As I was saying... I feel I am somewhat inconsistent. Because now I have found a wargaming group near me but they only play bolt action. *sigh. Well, I shall have to tackle that when it comes. I am not going to go out and buy a whole load now, oh no. Of that I can be sure. I spent it all on oldhammerish stuff and lotr!

Good for me.

Goodbye, (turns around and walks out the door. Turns around again, raising his eyebrows and then saying coldly, in a matter of factly manner) :

Goodbye.

Oldhammer-ish. Middlehammer...

So, this below will turn into a Slanneshi warband. Fun fun fun! Anywho? I am also planning an empire warband to beat up the slanneshi oaks.

Now, why did I buy a bunch of middlehammer instead of oldhammer if I want to play oldhammer, I hear you cry. Well, the answer is "meh" or in other words "I couldn't be bothered with all the ebay stuff".... That is why this happens to one. In fact I was ambushed! By low prices. Still...  Sadly I am older than most of these sets but there is one that is older than me which I am very happy about.

A bunch of marauding horsemen, a chaos lord,  three chaos ogres (at first I thought they were minotaurs, but, they are not so what). Also there is a Pestigor, two ungor commander dudes, and some strange ugly beastman character who I am sure has a name sounding somewhat like "Deathskull, Skullsmaster of Skullkeep, First Skull of the knightly order of Skull, GrimDark GrimDark, death death death and destruction, grimdark, skulls skulls, skulz" or something of that ilk.

And on that cheerful note may I present to you all the two happy little slanneshi lads which are reinforcements to the random other one in my last post. The one on the right is two years older than me! Yay! Happiness. He has my respect because #Respectyourelders/somethingorother>?/thisisn'tahashtag. What a hash up.

And here is my mutated elephant-steed which my chaos lord is mounted on. Mutated horse? Oh no. I am sure this is an elephant! I mean, it can't be horse. Demonic steed perhaps. Damn right! Mutated demonic elephant steed!

Guys I am not joking, this thing is huuuuge! If you were forced to swallow it you would just die. I'd rather scalp myself with a butterknife*!

Now, some of you might be thinking I have given up on lotr? Well I haven't! I promise. I just need a break. A short brake hopefully. However, I am a hobby butterfly that flits around from one game and project to another. I will flit back in no time. Therefore I proclaim the Snaga project 98% complete and finished with only four more shields to be painted. I still have the Escape from Goblin Town untouched and I shall touch it soon!

To put it in a nutshell, this hobby is often more "real-life" than real life is, so I need a hobby on the side like collecting miniatures that are almost as old as me and sometimes, a little older!

There, I have said it. Farewell!

*This is not true. I want neither to happen!

Deviations, Depredations and some bases for a certain Llama

This is a short update. Let it be known.

So, I have found a dark and depraved fascination with oldhammer... Another day in the life of a hobby butterfly... Anywho? I have finished painting a slanneshi beastman for yolo and fun. It turned out quite alright actually in the end, although I had my doubts.

Next up I bought these monsters to paint goblin town. These are brush killers-- turps or whatever it is called is the only way to safe them! Well, they worked and they were cheap so who cares!

Here is the WIP gobalun town which shall have more love from me in a couple of days time.

Next up, I did these shields for pure fun, because I was bored. That is why.

And last of all, my round bases ready to be packaged off to Llama once I have assembled a few more.

So that's it. Life is hectic and I will probably be away for the next few days, but I have brought more beastmen with me to work on.

Goodbye, good luck, and happy lives to everyone!

Goblin Town -- What have I done??

Hmm . . . I thought I was doing myself a favour so I spontaneously bought an escape from goblin town blahlablah.

:D

More Snaga for meeeeee!

And more terrain for snaga town! That is all positive. But only deity knows what I'll do with the dwarves? I'm going to use Bilbo in my growing hobbit force (if you can call ten hobbits a force?). Maybe dwarf mercenaries? Armed merchants? With a bit of  greenstuff and a few horses converted to  pack horses this could be done! Fun. :\

It is fun. I am not being negative. I need something to do hobby wise.

Poor goblins, they don't know it but they are about to be downgraded to snaga. :(

And around another 40+ useless bases! Maybe I will rebase all my WHFB stuff for Age of Cigar and then I get a whole load of square bases. I don't know...

Anywho? Goodbye. For now. Mwahaha!

THE END.

Tuesday 3 November 2015

Deviations, Altercations, Abominations, Abbreviations and Incineration!

Sit ye selves down my friends. Grab an ice cold cider (or preferred beverage) and crack it open. Relax. Make sure your seatbelt is firmly fastened because you are in for one hell of a ride! A long, random altercating, much relevance, many relevance, no relevance and PROGRESS REPORT: ABYSSMAL kind of ride.

So, first of all the heading pretty much sums up this whole blog. Literally. Except the incineration part. I put that in because my cousin (who is gifted intellectually) sprayed deodorant all over his hand and then lit it. As I said he is a genius. ;D hint hint. Anywho? I did not condone it nor did I approve. I had no problem with him lighting himself on fire (a habit that I hope to promote in the hope that one day I will get lucky)*, its just that I was worried that something else might catch on fire and inconvenience me.

Anywhen, my hobby has been at an abysmal low!?!

So what do I do?

The answer is Oldhammer!?

This is not real oldhammer but it is quite old and so is no longer available from GeeDubb. Therefore it is both old and warhammer and so is therefore oldhammer. I wish it was oldhammer. You know? The 1600's kind of stuff made by the ancient and venerable company Geelius DubbBubelyew. But I am calling it oldhammer and so it is. Excuse made!
What this has to do with my mainly lotr focused blog I in all earnestness have no idea.

These are all humies. Not all are GW but hey, they have been in my collection long enough to have been corrupted by the taint...**

And here are some beasty-men and an ogre (unassembled).

Next up on tonight's roll call is an interesting one. I am shocked with myself. Shocked! For many a month I had been mourning the death of the warhammer world. So here I go and rebase a skaven warband with round (round!) bases. For Age of Sugar/Cigar. This was only because I wanted to sell it to acquire cash-dollar for a secret purpose which shall not be revealed yet... Mwahahaha!

Anywho's? I painted these chaps a while ago (a couple of years). I think my painting skills have decreased since then. I don't know. They are not brilliant but they are better than the usual stuff I churn out.

Apologies for the fuzzy images, I have not yet properly worked out how to use my stolen camera (it was my sisters, but now its mine, mine, mine until she finds out). :(  If you know her, don't tell her! ***

And here is a new Lamedonian? noble infantryman.

And this ravaging pic is of a WIP orcy who I am practicing sculpting on. Looks like horse manure**** but anyways. :(

This is a picture of my left hand. I am really rather attached to it.....hur hur hur (moronic laugh).
Not sure about the miniature but the hand looks fantastic.

And in the background you can just make out through the blur, a limited edition vision of my bathroom! Enjoy. :)

Here is a friend of mine's cat that I came across? His name is Leonidas. Very majestic. His owner showers with him and he seems to like it. Strange. Maybe he is a tiger? They like water, no?

Aaaaaand some steaks. Not the delicious kind but the kind that gores your horse if you ride into it at speed. For my orcs maybe?

And here is a statuette of Caleborn which I am going to use as an elf statue somewhere in the unforeseeable future.

And an Aragorn chess piece?? Statue for Gondor? Ok.

Just to show scale...

More randomness! A WHFB high elf mage that I painted a while ago and which I really like! He turned out relatively well.

You saw it earlier on the blog and here it is again. My bedroom in delicious chaos. Or rather my table. My bed is yet unaffected.

I found this in my room. Don't ask.

And  last picture, my sprue bin where all the best bits come from.

Now, I would write more but I am uber tired. Yes, uber tired! So here I must leave you all. This post was created because I was feeling bad about not doing much hobby. I am mainly writing. Please comment if anything above is mildly interesting/disturbing enough to merit the time and energy. Comments make me feel better and therefore make me hobby more. :D otherwise I just read and read and read.

Goodbye,

THE END

* This is not true. I actually quite like my cousin and do not want to see him incinerated. Most of the time...

** I am not implying that GeeDubb is tainted. Oh no! I never imply anything.

*** I am not implying anyone reading this post knows my sister. In fact I would be surprised, mystified and slightly disturbed if you did. I am not implying, however, in any way that you are either surprising, mystifying or slightly disturbing or all three.

**** This stands for something else. I have resolved not to swear on this blog because I am an angel. :)

Sunday 1 November 2015

This Post has nothing to do with Wargaming!

After seeing this majestic beast (I am talking about the alpaca!) the other day I have been pining for another meeting with his/her esteemed person!

Truly a glorious animal. Majestic and noble.

And it likes nose sctaches!

And head scratches!

Me communing with my betters.

Apologies for this post. I have had a tiring day and so I have not got anything done. I am thinking of getting another escape from goblin town set for extra snaga. Maybe tomorrow!

Cheers!
